5 Most Beautiful Campgrounds in Oregon

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

Are you thinking of going on a camping trip to Oregon? What are you waiting for? Pack your camping tents and head off to one of the beautiful campgrounds in this state! Sure enough you will have the time of your life that would make you want to come back for more. Below is a list of some of the most stunning campgrounds in Oregon.

Oswald West State Park

This state park in Manzanita stands out because it has a long stretch of Oregon Coast Trail between Cape Falcon and Neahkahnie Mountain. Apart from that, if you love surfing, you will have a grand time at the Short Sand Beach. If you intend to camp here for this purpose, choose site 20 as it is the one closest to the beach. The only downside is that site 20 does not have a tent platform. Apart from these, Oswald West State Park boasts of scenic views that you would not be able to stop yourself from saying, “Wow!”

Tillicum Beach Campground

The Tillicum Beach Campground is nestled between the Waldport and Yachats along a sandy beach. This campground is almost always busy so you have to arrive here early to be able to pick a good spot. Since the campground is situated right up against the sand, it makes you feel as if you are camping by the seaside. Of course, there are some camp spots that are located right across the beach. As mentioned earlier, you need to get here early so you can pick a wonderful beachfront spot. This campground, which is part of the Siuslaw National Forest Recreation Area, is open all year round.

Oxbow Campground

People love many things about the Oxbow Campground. For one, it has a $4 entry fee so casual tourists hardly ever drive to the campground to stop by it as if it were a sightseeing spot. Gates also close at dusk so you do not have to worry about drunk people arriving in the middle of the night. Apart from that, alcohol and firearms are not allowed so you can have a peace of mind during your sleep. Finally, it is a wildlife sanctuary so you can immerse yourself in the beauty of the creatures that reside in this place. This campground, which is located on the Sandy River five miles east of Gresham, has 67 sites. It also boasts of having 500-year-old trees and amazing animals roaming around.

Cascadia State Park

The Cascadia State Park is a hidden gem nestled in the Cascade foothills just 14 miles each of Sweet Home. It stands on one of the western Oregon’s early mountain retreats. This place is rich in history. You will love the ancient rock art inside Cascadia Cave and the Old Santiam Wagon Road. This state park has 25 campsites and challenging hiking trails for your enjoyment.
These are just few of the many gorgeous campsites to consider for your trip to Oregon. Just make sure that you bring all the necessary camping equipment with you including outdoor tents, camping stove, sleeping bag, flashlights, and many more. Have fun!
