If you are a camper and you have never been to Oregon, you are missing out on a lot of things! Oregon is popular among many campers not only for its stunning natural views but also for the abundance of natural resources such as lakes, rivers, sand dunes, lush forests, and so many more. If you ever do decide to take a trip to this amazing place, you have to get know about these tips that will help ensure that you end up having the best kind of Oregon camping experience.

3 P’s of Camping: Planning, Preparation and Packing

Planning – Sometimes, the most exciting part of a vacation is the planning part. In this initial phase, you will determine the camping destination, itinerary, and activities to do during the trip. When choosing a campground, one thing you can do to make things easier for you is to do an extensive research online. Type the words, “Oregon Campgrounds” and browse through the different sites that offer reviews and information about sites in this state. Gather relevant information like amenities, rates, activities, and location so you can make a smart decision.

Aside from the destination, you should also plan for the activities to do so that you will be able to prepare yourself for them. Some of the popular activities to do in this state include fishing, boating, swimming, whitewater rafting, canoeing, kayaking, hand gliding, rock climbing, hiking, wildlife viewing, bird watching, trekking, and backpacking.

Preparation – As for the preparation, you need to prepare yourself for the trip first and foremost. As you know, camping is a physical activity and so are the outdoor activities you will do during your vacation. You need to be fit and active for you to enjoy and sustain these activities. Go to your doctor for a check-up, exercise regularly prior to the trip, and eat healthy food that will give you energy and endurance to carry on with the planned itinerary.

Packing – Packing can be quite tricky. You may end up bringing too much or too little. To avoid this, create a checklist that enumerates all the camping supplies and equipment that you need for the trip. Some of the things to include are tents, sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, food, water, cooking equipment, eating utensils, Coleman lantern, flashlights, matches, maps, compass, first aid kit, ice cooler, clothing, toiletries, camera, cash, and so many more.

To save space on your luggage, transfer contents of big bottles into smaller containers like shampoo and liquid soap for instance. You should also pre-cut ingredients and put them in resealable plastic bags before putting into the ice chest. For the water, you do not need to bring too many bottles if there is a clean source of drinking water in the campsite. Or you can bring purifying tablets to make water from rivers or lakes safe for drinking. As for the cooking equipment, bring lightweight pots and pans that serve multiple purposes. Choose meals that are easy and quick to cook.

Planning, preparing and packing for a trip to Oregon is not that difficult if you keep these tips in mind. These tips will help you have a wonderful vacation that will leave you with worthwhile memories.
